Health First serves Florida’s Space Coast through four hospitals with different clinical settings. The system includes a large referral hospital in Melbourne, community hospitals in Palm Bay and Viera, and Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach.

For an international nurse, knowing these campuses helps make the employer’s name more concrete: where the hospitals are, what care they provide, and how they are developing.

Holmes Regional Medical Center — Melbourne

Holmes Regional is the system’s largest hospital, with 550 beds. Located on Hickory Street, it serves as a tertiary referral center, providing specialized care as well as general hospital services.

Its facilities include a Level II trauma center, advanced cardiac services, a dedicated pediatric emergency department, maternity care, and neonatal intensive care. The range of services makes it a different clinical environment from a smaller community campus.

Palm Bay Hospital — Palm Bay

Palm Bay Hospital is a 133-bed hospital on Malabar Road, serving communities in southern Brevard County. It provides inpatient and outpatient care, emergency services, surgery, intensive care, cardiopulmonary care, and rehabilitation.

The campus also includes William Childs Hospice House. This adds an important part of the system’s care beyond emergency treatment and recovery: support for patients and families approaching the end of life.

Viera Hospital — Viera

Viera Hospital opened in 2011 on North Wickham Road. It provides emergency, medical, surgical, and maternity care within Health First’s Viera Health Park campus.

In October 2026, a fifth-floor expansion increased capacity from 98 to 118 beds, adding surgical and postpartum rooms. Earlier in 2026, the hospital opened its Igo Family Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab.

The Health First video below introduces that lab and its opening. It offers a closer look at a specific clinical facility rather than a general recruitment advertisement.

Cape Canaveral Hospital — Cocoa Beach

The current Cape Canaveral Hospital is on West Cocoa Beach Causeway. It provides emergency care, surgery, intensive care, diagnostic imaging, and other acute hospital services.

A replacement hospital with 120 private inpatient rooms is planned to open on Merritt Island in 2027. The current Cocoa Beach hospital and the future Merritt Island campus are separate locations. Images of the planned building should not be mistaken for the hospital operating today.

Which nursing specialties are listed on DaRi?

Health First recruitment has started. As of October 22, 2026, the DaRi hospital page lists:

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Step-down / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Medical and Surgical Nursing
  • Emergency Nursing
  • Labor and Delivery
  • Hospice / Palliative Care

The listings specify at least two years of experience, an NCLEX-RN pass, and good English communication skills. Applications are for Health First as a whole; the list does not establish that every specialty is available at every campus.

The clinical services described above are also broader than the recruitment list. For example, a hospital having a cardiac lab does not mean that Cath Lab positions are included in this recruitment round.

Confirm the campus, unit, and care setting for any position discussed with you. This is particularly useful for Hospice / Palliative Care, where the service setting should be clarified.
